Our Week in Pictures

It has been more than a full week so we won’t be sending our usual update due to time restraints. We have extended our equine program for special needs kiddies, to give another morning to our Syrian special needs from War City, who came with their parents this week, and were literally transported to another world, one full of wonder, far from the slum setting of War City.

Now that our Yezidi special needs kiddies have become a close group, friends with each other, and bonded well with us, we have given them an additional two morning sessions in the Hope Centre consisting of play therapy, music and art therapy. Our desire is to help them with very basic learning and to aid them with integration into the community.

Our attention was recently directed to a Syrian family in a nearby tent camp who have three special needs sons in dire straights. We paid them several visits and then held a musical event primarily for the one who was able to attend, and spent time visiting with the family in the block house constructed specially for them. We plan to continue to be present and active in the life of this family.

Our wonderful Dahka school came for their monthly visit to the stables, which was as always a fabulous time with them. It was encouraging to hear that since the school received its painted face lift, more students have registered and additional staff have joined the school. Mr Basil, the headmaster, is more than happy. His dream of rejuvenation and expansion is being realised.

And we went over the mountains, yet again, to visit a school in the middle of nowhere that comes under the jurisdiction of Baghdad, overlooking the Mosul Dam, to plan our monthly community service, with art and music, and to paint the school. Another school with only 25 students, no resources, no budget and no one that has ever paid them any interest.

So for today, some photos of these activities and hopefully soon we will be able to expand on all.

With thanks for your ongoing support and encouragement.
